Its knowledge is essential for ethical and safe use of medicines. About the Author Professor F.S.K. Barar is Ex-Senior Professor and Head, Department of Pharmacology, at S.M.S. Medical College, Jaipur and Ex-Associate Director (Pharmacy) at Lachoo Memorial College of Science and Technology, Jodhpur. He is presently working as a Medical Officer practicing Medicine in a Charitable Clinic at Jodhpur. He has completed MBBS from S.M.S. Medical College, Jaipur in 1957. He underwent training in the United Kingdom in Medical Statistics at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine under Prof. Peter Armitage and Dr. M. Hills, and in Clinical Pharmacology at the University College Hospital Medical School, London. With a teaching experience of over 30 years, Prof. Barar has authored over 60 papers. His work has been referred to in 29 books and compendia. His research interests include psychoneuropharmacology and cardiovascular pharmacology. He is especially interested in studies on human memory and psychomotor performance. He has been awarded for his published research work and teaching–the Gargi Devi Shurvir Singh Prize, 1977 for the best research paper published from Rajasthan medical colleges; the N.N. Dutta Prize, 1983 by the Indian Pharmacological Society for the best published research paper in the IJP during the year 1982; and the Dr. B.C. Roy National Award, 1988 in the category of Eminent Teacher.
