Leucoderma (Vitiligo)

In spite of tremendous amount of research in the field of leucoderma (vitiligo) during the last few decades, most patients and general public still consider that leucoderma is an incurable disease. This is probably due to the lack of knowledge and paucity of literature available to general public, especially patients. The development of pigmentation or improvement in leucoderma patches depends upon the selection of proper treatment regimen and the presence of reasonable number of viable melanocytes (the cells which produce pigment) in the leucoderma patch. Every patient should know that leucoderma is basically a harmless disease. The patients having leucoderma are as efficient in physical, intellectual and sexual terms as any other normal person.
